The study examined minimizing problems of teaching and learning grammar for sustainable education development in primary schools in Ogun State. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Population comprises all English language teachers in primary schools in Ogun State, Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was used to select ten (10) primary schools in Odeda local government area, in which ten (10) teachers were chosen per school, to make a total of 100 teachers as sample for study. A self-developed questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. The instrument was moderated by experts who affirmed its validity. Reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage, mean and standard deviation statistical tools. Findings revealed that, the challenges faced in teaching and learning grammar in primary schools are multifaceted and require comprehensive interventions to foster sustainable improvements. The problems include teacher training gaps, resource limitations, student-centered obstacles, and socio-cultural influences that impact grammar education outcomes in Ogun State primary schools. By proposing evidence-based strategies such as comprehensive teacher training, curriculum development, pedagogical innovations, and community engagement, we aim to address these challenges and promote sustainable improvements in grammar education. These strategies are grounded in research and best practices, offering a roadmap for enhancing grammar instruction effectiveness and fostering equitable learning outcomes for primary school students in Ogun State. It was therefore recommended that educational authorities should prioritize the implementation of comprehensive teacher training programmes focused on grammar instruction. These programmes should be tailored to the specific needs of primary school educators in Ogun State, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to deliver effective grammar instruction.

2 The Impact of Academic Self-concept and Cognitive Restructuring Treatment on Reducing Low Academic Performance in Economics among Secondary School Students in Ibadan Metropolis Adejumobi A. A PhD, Ayansiji F. O. PhD and Odebunmi O.

The study looked at how well cognitive restructuring therapy worked and how academic self-concept moderated the negative impacts of low economic performance in secondary school pupils in the city of Ibadan. Using a 3x2x2 factorial matrix, the study used a pre-post quasi-experimental control group design. A multistage sampling process was employed to choose research subjects. The study includes all SSS 2 senior secondary schools in Ibadan metropolitan, which has 11 local government areas. Of these, three (3) schools are from different local governments of the metropolis Ibadan was selected for the study. Ibadan North, Ido, and Ibadan Southeast are the three local authorities that were chosen using the purposeful sampling technique. These municipal authorities are chosen according to factors including population, geography, and equipment availability. The three secondary schools that have been chosen are Junior High School, C.A.C. CGS Apete Ayegun High School, and IMG Grammar School. Using a straightforward random sample procedure, participants were chosen from three high schools in the final round. Based on their academic records, thirty (30) students were chosen at random from the student body using Urn Box. After taking the Economic Performance Test (EPT) and receiving a score of 40 or below, participants were divided into two groups: the CRT group and the control group. Both the ASCQ (.98) and EPT (.73) scales were the instruments used. Eight weeks are allotted for treatment. Covarian analysis was used to evaluate the data at a significance level of 0.05. Academic self-concept was highly present among respondents (48,579). Between the CRT participants (=59.853) and the control group (=62.109), there was a significant main effect. The main consequence of academic self-concept is a large reduction in subpar economics performance. Participants with a strong academic self concept profited more (=49.585) than those with a poor academic self-concept (=46.285) among secondary school students (F (1, 69) = 16.781, <0.05, ?2 = 0.111). Students in secondary schools who performed poorly in economics saw a reduction in performance through CRT and academic self-concept. Reducing subpar performance in economics should incorporate academic self-concept and counseling assistance.

10 Breeding and Productivity Traits in a Diallel Crossed Rabbits Fed Dried Cocoyam Peel Meal in a Humid Environment K. T. Akanni and G. A. Ajayi

The study was conducted onproductivity traits using four rabbit strains; the New Zealand White (NZW), the Chinchilla (CHL), New Zealand Red (NZR) and the Beveren (BVR) through di-allele crossbreeding experiment that generated 16 genotypes involving 4 straight bred and 12 crossbreds respectively. The reproductivity performance of these rabbit strains was monitored to evaluate sire’s sexual maturity traits on litter size (LZ) at birth and at weaning. The results indicated that reproductivity traits varied among the rabbit genetic groupsdue to variation in their genetic makeup. The variation in the graph of Vr-Wr, the diallel cross relationships in terms of Vr, the variance of all the offspring of the rth parent, and Wr the covariance between the offspring and their non-recurrent parents for litter productivity at weaning and post-weaning ages across the purebred lines (parents) reflected their degree of superiority or order of dominance among the pure breed studied. Recommendations were therefore made among others that Variations that existed in this rabbit population should be thoroughly exploited through crossbreeding and selection programmes. This is desirable in order to take advantage of heterosis in enhancing numerical doe’s reproductive efficiency. The study therefore underscored the importance of diallel crossing on reproductive potentials in rabbits, which is a better tool of enhancing the genetic potentials of rabbitsas a sustainable path to economic recovery and food security in Nigeria.
