An Investigation into the Quality Of Research Work By Final Year Students of Colleges of Education in Ogun State

This research was carried out to investigate the quality of research work by final year students of Colleges of Education in Ogun State. The research was conducted among 300 level students of Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Primary source of data was used by the researcher with the aid of questionnaire with simple and concise questions for the respondents so as to gather useful information from the students. The instrument was validated and found to be reliable at Cronbach Alpha 0.71. The data collected was presented and analyzed using simple percentage frequency table. The findings showed that research project submitted by students is often being downloaded from the internet with or without being edited. Research topic of most research project submitted to the supervisor is often gotten from friends and colleagues, sometimes supervisors obtain money from students to help them write their project work and some students do not even take pain to gather materials and edit such materials before submitting the research project to their supervisor. Based on the result of the research findings, the following recommendations were made: supervisor sometimes should give research topics to students to work on, students should study current issues in their society before choosing their research topics. Also, supervisors and students should discuss together on research topics before the students go ahead with the research work.
