Abstract

This study aimed at portraying (ICT) as a key resource in the effective teaching of geography in secondary schools and to identify obstacies to achieving fhis. In doing fhis, the researcher employed a descriptive survey research design. The study wous guided by two research questions and one hypothesis. The population of the study comprised Geograpiy teachers drawn from all public and prioate senior secondary schools in Lageiu local government ares of Oyo slate, Nigeria. Effect Size method of sample size determination for moderate precision was adopted, which leads to 44 sampies. The researcher in the course of the study employed the questionnaire as the instrument for data collection, Data collected were analsed using criterion mean and chi-square method of testing hypothesis. At the end of the analysis, it was reveaied that Information and Communication Techmology applied in fenching Geography in secondary schools has enormous and significant positive effects; that is application is not without a chalienge, but that the chalienges can be resoloed with some measures, among which are inclusion of Information and Communication Technology in Geography cwrriculum and more especially, Geography Teachers Education curricwlum; training and retraining of Geagraphy teachers on the application of ICT in Geography Education.
